In this research project, your aim is to hack yourself in order to form healthier habits. You will have to design, run, and write up a self-improvement project based on what you’ve learned in class. It’s basically like running a scientific experiment on yourself! As you think about your design and write up, you must stick closely to the QALMRI cheat sheet we provide for thinking about how to design and write up a scientific experiment. There are 3 main steps in this project:

  1. Project Proposal (You are here): You’ll start by proposing what you’ll do to hack your habits. You need to first think about a new habit you can try in your own life that (one that is based on what you learned in class— it should be either a rewirement or one of the PSYCHPROTIPs you learned about in class). Your goal is to pick something that you think will boost your mood based on the evidence. You’ll then measure your mood directly via a validated psychological instrument (PANAS).
  2. Project Checkpoints. You’ll have several project checkpoints where you get to implement your intervention from Step 1 and submit weekly progress reports that detail how often you did the new behavior you proposed, some documentation that you actually did it, and your PANAS mood score.
  3. Project Summary: Write up the results of your intervention project in a project summary, as though you were writing a scientific paper. But don’t worry, we’ll help you through the process.

>Science homework help

For the term paper, you will do a scientific literature search following the procedure described in the information in this module titled “How to Do a Literature Search Using the Web of Science”. The goal of your search is to find all of the scientific literature on a medical, health-related, or medical sociological topic of your own choosing. The subject matter of your topic is up to you, so if you like you can choose something that interests you personally or that could help you in your studies or your career.

Your term paper will consist of two parts. First you will have a description of the method you used to search the literature, described similarly to the “How to Search the Scientific Literature Using the Web of Science” piece (but without the screen shots). Then after that you will list the scientific articles you found, using any standard method of citation that includes author, title, journal, volume, year, and pages. As long as you cite the articles like that you are fine, it doesn’t have to be any specific citation style like MLA or whatever.  I also don’t grade based on the length of your paper (there is no minimum length your paper has to be). Instead your grade will be based on whether you had a good search procedure, whether you found all the relevant literature and whether your topic is appropriately narrow as described in the materials in this module and the Grading Rubric for the Term Paper in this module. The learning goal of this assignment is to gain the skills necessary to be able to find all the scientific literature on a topic in case you need to do that in your profession or your own life.

Any format for the paper is fine but when you list the articles you found the easiest way for me is if you say “Here is my starting article” and then list the citation for that article, and then after that you say “here are the articles I found from the ‘times cited’ of my starting article” and then “here are the articles I found from the ‘cited references’ of my starting article. You don’t have to use that exact wording of course but that is the best way to list your articles to make the papers easier to grade.

To submit the paper, type it as a Word document and then submit it by clicking on the “Submit” button in the upper right. As always in this course, it is advisable to work on the paper and get it submitted well in advance of the due date to allow for computer or Canvas problems or issues that might come up in your life.

One more thing; if you feel you need help as you do the assignment, please feel free to contact me. I want the assignment to be a good learning experience so I am always willing to help.

 Topic:

Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana in the U.S.

1. Formulate the Abstract section of your selected topic.

Make sure that your Abstract contains the following sub-sections:

* Background Information on the Problem

* The Objective of the Study

* Method Used

* Interpretation of the Results

* Conclusion & Recommendations for Future Research

Example:

Background: The temporary protective status (TPS) is a document granted by USCIS to eligible nationals of certain countries, who are already in the US. It was granted to the Haitian community after the earthquake back in 2010 Objective: The purpose of this study is to explain why Haitian with TPS should be granted a green card. Method: For this research study, a meta-analysis method was used. Various data relating Temporary Protected Status (TPS) were collected and specifically sorted. The information was compared to a narrow path regarding solely to the Haitian community. Results: TPS has received many extensions over the past ten years; now it is just a question of when the US government will close their eyes on the Haitians people. This uncertainty causes many fears in the community. Conclusion: The research will help know whether Haitian in the US with TPS will get a green card and which way. Furthermore, this study will help a lot of Haitian living in USA, also those that might come temporarily to know the stress they will be facing. Recommendations: It is recommended that future research be done to collect more information on legalization like asylum, family-based citizenship through USCIS, and conduct quantitative-qualitative studies on the same topic.

Keywords: temporary protective status, Haitian community, immigration, government legislation, green card for Haitians

English homework help

For this activity, we will examine technical definitions so that you can see examples of the genre you will work in for this next project.

Step 1:

You will first need to find an example extended technical definition. An extended definition is a definition that is at least a few paragraphs long.) You can find an extended definition by looking up medical terms, or a by googling a technical term in your field. If you find a website, handout, poster, textbook, or similar, describing that term, you’ve probably found a technical definition.

Note: you may need to spend more a few minutes finding a good one to work with for this assignment. If you start to answer the questions below and can’t answer the questions, you may have chosen a poor example.

Step 2:

After you’ve identified one to work with, save it as a PDF or take a screenshot. Then, answer these questions.

1. Look at the first sentence of the definition. What is the category that the term is placed in? And how does the sentence differentiate the term from other items in that category?  (For example, if I say that “FIU is a public university with it’s main campus in Miami”–I am placing FIU in the category of “public university”; and then for the rest of the sentence I am saying it’s different from other “public universities” because it’s located in Miami. That’s the category [public university] and the differentiation [located in Miami]. An extended definition is supposed to start with a one sentence definition with the basic structure: TERM is a __[category]__ that _[differentiation]________. )

  • Do you think that was an effective categorization? Can you think of another category that this term could be placed in?
  • If the first sentence is a poor example of a one-sentence definition, suggest a revision. If the extended definition you chose does not include a one-sentence definition as the first sentence, then suggest one.

2. Look over the definition. What are the methods (partition, etymology, principle of operation, etc) that the writer is using to define this term ? If the definition uses many different strategies, identify at least the first 3 that the writer used.

  • Do you think the strategies came in a good order? Which do you think was the most effective at explaining the term?

3. Look over the formatting of the definition. What does the author do, if anything, to break up the definition and make it easier to understand? What other elements of the page make the page look professional?

4. Are there any images in the definition? Do they seem helpful or merely decorative?

5. What, if anything, does examining this definition clarify for you as you start working on your own definition? OR, what questions do you have for me after examining this example?

Step 3:

Please post your answers and a screenshot or PDF of the definition so that I can compare.

Here’s how you’ll be graded:

  • Assignment submission is well-developed, thorough, and detailed. (6 points)
  • Assignment submission responds to all parts of the assigned texts or prompt. If a word count is mentioned, the assignment meets the word count. (2 points)
  • Assignment shows evidence of proofreading and editing. (2 points).

Criminal homework help

As the newly hired human resources (HR) manager for a jewelry store, you have placed your initial focus on the areas of staffing and training development. During your organizational analysis, you discovered the following with regard to staffing and training:

  • Line managers are currently handling the recruiting and staffing functions. Each manager tends to follow different hiring practices. Some of the managers are reluctant to hand over the hiring of their staff to the HR department. Other managers feel burdened with the staffing responsibilities and are anxious to turn it over as quickly as possible. No job descriptions exist within the organization.
  • Upon hire, employees are given a 2-hour orientation session focusing on department policy and procedure. There is no additional training given, but rather, it is on the job training and learn as you go. There are no formal training classes and no management training programs.

You would like to obtain feedback from the line managers prior to making a presentation to the chief executive officer (CEO). Taking the above conditions into consideration, address the following questions in a presentation that you will deliver to a team of three to four line managers:

Staffing Function:

  • What are your preliminary recommendations with regard to centralizing the staffing function under the HR umbrella?
  • What will the new process look like?
  • With regard to this new staffing strategy, what challenges do you anticipate, and what is your plan to overcome those challenges?
  • How can you position this to demonstrate how this will impact the performance efforts of the organization?
  • What results do you anticipate?

Training and Development Function:

  • With regard to the training/development function, what preliminary recommendations would you make?
  • What challenges do you anticipate with this new employee development strategy, and what is your plan to overcome those challenges?
  • How can you position this decision to the CEO to demonstrate how this will impact the performance efforts of the organization?
  • What results do you anticipate?

Note: You are required to use a minimum of 2 scholarly references in your research. Ensure that citations and references are formatted in compliance with APA style.

Two paragraphs and two references no more than 5 years. no plagiarism

You found a nice systematic review article, which are considered a strong source of evidence (SOE). The authors do a great job addressing best hand hygiene practices among hospital-based nurses (Doronina et a., 2017). The conclusion informs us that while many strategies exist, there is a lack of solid evidence as to the best strategy. And thus, more research is needed.  It is always good practice to focus on systematic and meta-analysis articles (the highest level of evidence).  I like to think of systematic reviews (“evidence reports”) as appraising the best of evidence on a particular subject. A nice short cut through a forest of research. Another plus, the best practice changes are those having a solid scientific foundation (Dang & Dearholt, 2018, p. 97).

You are absolutely correct in stating there are numerous ways to obtain information. Would you agree; however, that having a consistent, strategic and focused approach can lead to better returns? Approaching your search from an iterative perspective offers great value.  Can you share a bit more about your search strategy- search terms/phrases, data bases explored, scholarly access, etc.

I look forward to your thoughts.
