Proposed Hypothesis:  Based off the current conditions in Venezuela, economic, social and military involvement by the United States is essential for the overall stability of the Western Hemisphere.  “The U.S. government is providing humanitarian and emergency food assistance and helping to coordinate and support regional response efforts. As of February 12, 2020, the United States has provided $472.4 million for the Venezuelan crisis since FY2017, of which more than $416.4 million was for Venezuelan refugees and migrants who fled to other countries or for the communities hosting them, and $56 million was for emergency needs in Venezuela” (Seelke et al., 2020, p. 30).  Although we cannot question the economic assistance that the United States continues to provide Venezuela, given the current economical situation in the United States this is simply unsustainable.  The military influences of both Cuba and Russia within the borders of Cuba pose a threat to the United States’ ability to recommit military assistance to Venezuela.  A prosperous and safe environment in Venezuela can reopen the doors for the United States to assume open trade once again with Venezuela.  The ability to establish these conditions will result in a much safer and prosperous Western Hemisphere overall.
