Homer and Marge live on catalina Island, where they work for Burns Resort Adventure Town (BRAT). Guests love it, but employees hate it because BRAT treats them so poorly. (For example, employees are expected to be available to cater to guests every whim but do not get paid overtime.)

Homer and Merge get in touch with representative from the local union and they begin to spread the word of employees during their lunch hour and break times. They also post a flyer on a bulletin board that has notices for hair dye and saxaphone lessons. 

Mr. Burns, the owner of BRAT, tells the employees how in his opinion, BRAT would not be as successful if the union was voted in, and that some of their benefits might have to be cut. He then distributes for the workers to sign a pledge not to vote for the union. Two days after one hundred workers sign the pledge, Mr. Burns gives those workers the cost of living raises they’d been asking for, plus an additional bonus.
