Assignment: OB in Action Case Study—Developing a “Dream Team”

The glossary of your course text defines a team as a “collections of individuals tasks and responsibilities depend on the other members, are collectively accountable for the performance and outcomes ­associated with their work, and who work together for the time required for task completion or to fulfill their responsibilities” (Kinicki, 2021, p. 443). Working from that concept of a team, how would you describe a “dream team” and, in your view, have you ever been part of one? From what you have learned this week about effective teams, what stands out as key to developing a dream team?

This week, we will examine some of the challenges of teamwork at the International Space Station. As you know, it takes a tremendous amount of teamwork from a culturally diverse network of scientists to make the space station a successful venture. In this case study, you will examine “Space Travel Requires Teams of Teams” pp. 326-327.

In this scenario, you will be the team leader of the ISS flight crew. In your response, you will discuss some of the challenges that you would find most enjoyable, what challenges might be the most problematic for you to carry out and what would you do to make sure the onboard teams works together in an effective and safe environment? You will prepare a 500-word paper that discusses the elements of the case study. You may use the case study as well as research articles to support your team leadership. Be sure to use APA formatting to support your response.
