Georgia Module 7 Clinical Decision Support System Discussion

A CDSS or a Clinical Decision Support System is what typically provides any healthcare personnel with high or like-wise knowledge with person-specific information to help enhance the knowledge of health and its healthcare. (Clinical decision support, 2018). The CDSS can also improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of the work of care given to them and make sure the patients are okay and feeling well with the care they are being provided with.

There are some advantages that the CDSS gives to the patients that will greatly benefit their care. One advantage most talked about is the fact that they typically use tools to enhance the workflow and to provide notifications to the providers about the patients they have. Some alerts include computerized reminders, order tests, providing diagnostic support, focusing on patient data summaries, following guidelines, and avoiding errors.

Another advantage that is given by the CDDS is that it is being provided everywhere even in places where you least expect it such as allergy centers. In allergy care, the majority of the studies, decision-making, new developments, improving preventions, diagnosis, and monitoring of the allergic diseases is to help the [patients know what there are allergic of and help them overcome it and/or find ways to treat those allergies in advance before they get too sick and potentially die from an allergy disease (Dramburg et al., 2020).

One last advantage that I would like to mention is that the CDSS is more computer-based now than it was before. So before, the notes and everything considered important for the patient and their diagnoses, prescriptions, etc was written down in handwriting, now with computer systems, everything is typed and stored in a database that is completely secure. On top of that, unlike handwriting, it is legible and easy to read and understand. Now, the CDSS uses EHR systems, which are called ElectronicHealth Records that store all the information about the patient into a secure database. (Sutton et al., 2020). Overall with these advantages, I have listed, the new employer should feel more secure and confident in using the CDSS systems and know that his knowledge does and is needed when using these technologies.
