Write an op-ed of 250 words evaluating one contemporary US policy (prop 187) towards immigrants

1. Describe what the policy (or policies) are INTENDED to do
2. Analyze whether the policy/policies have succeeded at their own goals
3. Evaluate whether/why the goals of the policy may be misguided in the first place. When considering if a policy is misguided, you will get partial points for a general answer (e.g. the policy is racist) and full points for an answer that addresses the logic behind the policy, and whether the policy’s rationale actually fits what scholars know about the causes of the issue.
4. Discuss what “unintended” consequences the policy/policies have produced, if any.
5. CITE your sources. If your sources are from this class you can simply reference them in the text using parentheses, e.g. (de Leon 2015, 32). If you are referencing material from outside of class, please provide an in-text citation e.g., (Andrews 2018) and a reference list at the end of the piece
