Attacking Slavery

By 1860, Northerners were split on slavery. Some Northerners supported slavery. Who were these Northern supporters and why? But many, Northerners were also beginning to have problems with slavery and the South’s insistence on maintaining and expanding slavery. What was causing this in the North?
