CSUN The School to Prison Pipeline Abstract & Annotated Bibliography

Your first assignment in Project Media is to create an Abstract and Annotated Bibliography of your final research paper. This will require you to create a thoughtful explanation of what you are planning to write about and then begin your research.

Abstract and The Annotated Bibliography-

This exercise will introduce you to the Abstract and Annotated Bibliography. You will write a 250 word abstract ABOUT YOUR PAPER TO help you define what you will write about in your final research paper. The abstract should have a working thesis that expresses the point you will discuss in your RESEARCH PAPER.  You must do your research using sources that have been found either in book form or by using the search engines as I showed you in class. (One Search, Justor, ProQuest Think in terms of what you have learned in this class. Everything we have discussed inter-relates.  I do not accept Wikipedia as a source.

The annotated bibliography is a separate entity. It is basically an MLA formatted citation followed by a brief summary in your own words of the article or book you plan to use.  You then offer a one-line explanation of WHY it is important to your research. You are supposed to have FOUR SOURCES.   Each citation must have a summary that accompanies it. This is separate from the abstract. The summary of your source/article is a one-paragraph summary of the article. Tell me why you chose to use this article in the summary. To do this assignment you must work hard. You must go online to the library and look for books. You must go online and find sources. You must go to One Search (as I showed you early in the semester). Other popular search sites are Justor and ProQuest. There are numerous examples on Canvas under Project Media’s module.
