Introduction

Discussion forums allow students the opportunity to analyze and discuss project management topics with classmates and the instructor. They are an opportunity for sharing insights and experiences within project management and are relative to the readings, other weekly course material, and the Unit Learning Outcomes. Please review the Learning Outcomes and the Directions prior to posting your response to the discussion prompt below.

Determine how unexpected events and additional work (from customers) can impact a project.

Evaluate various lessons learned regarding project modifications.

Critique how project modifications can impact the success of a project.

Compose a change request associated with the project to denote the requested customer change.

Evaluate the importance of the quality management plan.

Actively Participate in this week’s discussion on the importance of managing change in a project. This week you will be given an additional work event and an unexpected event to manage.

After reviewing this week’s material, engage in an active discussion this week on the following topic:

Denote the unexpected event and additional work you were given this week. How will these things change the items we have discussed so far (the project charter, the team charter, the scope statement (and all of the components) and the quality management plan? What are your initial thoughts about the modifications and how did this change after you spoke with your team?
