1.  Thank you for your posting.Before watching the video, I always thought that corporate politics is a political struggle, an invisible force. Make good use of this power can make employees grow quickly. As you said, the essence of an organization is actually a political entity. The three sources of conflict in organizational life are political entities: diversified views, problems to be solved, and interdependence among members. In any case, we will more or less form our own small groups. I think this is everyone’s subconscious mind. At work, I like to form my own team according to my preferences. Many struggles can be avoided by doing so. I have the same views as you on the use of power. As you said, the job of a leader is to manage our team. The focus should be on how to properly manage team members. Indeed, in work, leaders should not abuse their power. Leaders need to have their own ideas and judgments based on the actual situation. As the textbook says, “Leaders need to establish a power base for the’reorganization’ and use power cautiously. Groups are allowed to negotiate differences and come up with reasonable compromises. They also need to work hard to eliminate everyone with common interests and any internal organization that cannot be united. Can be defeated by outsiders”Bolman & Deal, 2017)In my future work, if I have the opportunity to become a leader, I must always pay attention to the power in my hands. If used properly, it will make my work progress very smoothly. I don’t want my team to develop into multiple factions because of a certain cause, and eventually they will fight each other. We lost in this way.

2.  Thank you very much for sharing, I very much agree with most of your views. Especially your description of the “three sources of conflict” mentioned in the video “Corporate politics is composed of several small groups. Each independent individual will have the same interest, so the people in this small team organization must have The same goals, the same beliefs and values.” Let me have a better understanding of three sources of conflict. But for “Being Powerless” I don’t think it means “whether the colleagues around you have enough ability to provide help.” I think it means that the power not uses when it is needed. I have experienced this situation, when I founded a company myself, and the members were all my good friends at the time. Once our team needed to negotiate a very important cooperation with another company. Because I was in school, there was no way to go to the other company to communicate with the other company. So I asked my members to negotiate this cooperation, but they did not want to go, I did not use the power as a leader. Instead, they chose to negotiate with the other party over the phone. In the end, one can imagine that the cooperation failed. I think this is “Being Powerless”. Because like the video “The Best Way to Play Office Politics” that said “If you don’t use power, then you have no way to insist that you think it’s right in an organization, and there are many people in history, who have we met? Say what I must do, they let me does it, they have no power now” (Kent Lineback, 2011).

But I really like what you said in your post, “A lot of time I think it’s not that we want to fight for corporate politics, but we must choose corporate politics.” Because after watching “The Best Practices of Office Politics”, I realized that the nature of the organization is actually a political entity, so we have to choose corporate politics.
