CSCC The American Literature and Thomas Jeffersons Core Principles Question

In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson writes, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (253). As such, Jefferson’s words represent core principles and beliefs which become established within the fabric of American literature.

I selected three works of literature, so you can write an essay which demonstrates the manner in which three separate periods of American literature attempt to navigate these core principles and beliefs.

To ensure a well-supported argument, be certain to include direct quotations in every body paragraph to support your claim.

Your evidence should primarily come in the form of direct quotations taken from the literary work. Once you quote from the literary text, explain how that quotation proves your point.
