INSTRUCTIONS
In each discussion group, a third of you should begin the discussion by posting an Original Comment by Wednesday, Sept. 2nd. A third of you should continue the discussion by posting in Agreement (should you agree with a colleague’s comment) by Friday, Sept. 4th, and a third of you should conclude the discussion by posting Disagreement (should you disagree with a colleague’s comment). You can post as often as you like as the discussion evolves, but you must post at least once to complete the assignment. It is up to each group to decide among themselves which of you is writing which portion. I recommend reaching out to one another prior to Wednesday to discuss it.
DUE WEDNESDAY 9/1
(First Third) Original Comment: “I think…”
- In fewer than 200 words, post an original comment on the Discussion Forum in which you lay out your concerns with the ground rules for discourse. Are they fair? Do they take into account multiple perspectives? What demands consideration yet hasn’t been mentioned by the instructor?
DUE FRIDAY 9/3
(Second Third) Agreement: “I agree, and…”
- In fewer than 150 words, compose a comment that states agreement with a peer’s post. Explain why you agree, and expand upon the original post with an additional piece of evidence, further details, a relevant quote, etc.
DUE SUNDAY 9/5
(Final Third) Disagreement: “I disagree, because…”
- In fewer than 150 words, compose a comment that states your position of disagreement with a peer’s Group A or Group B post. Explain why you disagree. Suggest how and why your own interpretation or viewpoint differs from the original post. Provide a reason to substantiate your disagreement convincingly.
