Frist of all – check this out. 

Here is an article from Ramona, CA – where I used to teach as a HS science teacher 20 years ago.

The argument from the school district is that we should be teaching how awesome America is – rather than digging up all of the the ugly stories from the past.

Why do we need to study the good and the bad of history? 

Should we talk about taking the land away from the natives who lived here – or talk about them suffering on reservations?

Chimamanda Adichie talks about HOW the story is told – and how that shapes the thoughts of the people who are hearing the story.
