You have read many different articles and watched different media centered around race,
class, gender, culture, and the inequity in education. For your research paper, choose one
article or essay to center your research topic that relates to your research question. Consider
how your topic also relates to education and the major you will be studying after you transfer
to a university. Make your research purposeful and meaningful to you and your future
academic studies. How does your topic center around the critical issues facing our society
and our nation today? Through your research question, identify the academic conversations
that are currently happening in academic peer-review journals. Identify the problem and
provide sources to justify it. Which scholars are offering solutions? Analyze and discuss what
is working and what is not working. What ideas might be added to what they have presented
in journal articles to make these solutions more of a reality? Remember that you are
encouraged to use personal experiences as anecdotal evidence when appropriate for your
larger argument, but it must be very limited to only emphasize a point you are making as you
develop your claims.

 All MLA Formatting Guidelines
 5 to 7 pages, double-spaced, which do not include the works cited page.
 Works Cited page.
 5 to 7 sources – academic journals. You cannot count the article you chose to center your
research as one of your sources, but you do need to include it in your Works Cited.
 Slide presentation – minimum of 5 slides, which will be submitted with our research
paper.
