San Diego State University Privatization of Policing Discussion
I don’t understand this Writing question and need help to study.
1) If the provision of policing and law enforcement services were turned over to the private sector, do you believe that this would improve or worsen the quality of service that communities receive? Do you feel citizens will feel safer with private sector policing vs. traditional policing? Justify your answer.

Many individuals believe that turning the duties that we currently rely on public law enforcement for would be better if turned over to private sectors. Currently the service that the public receives looks out for the best interest for the public, each and every individual to protect lawful rights. Private sectors on the other hand look out for the best interest of the private companies and individuals who have hired them rather than the public. Casinos are a good example of this as many gamblers have techniques, they use to increase their odds of winning but are not unlawful and these private sectors are able to deal with the situation but putting an individual’s rights aside. The private policing and patrolling that is done by off duty public police. Private sectors only have so much they can do to detain an offender and serve more as a buffer until public policing authorities are able to arrive on the scene and deal with an offender in a lawful manner (Worrall, 2015). I believe that because individuals believe that private sectors and public can perform the same tasks, they feel safer but if they only knew that their interest was only for individuals that hired them, they may feel differently.
