CNN International Home Page the Daily Top Stories Discussion

  1. Take a look at the home page of a newspaper website (like The San Diego Union-Tribune or The New York Times) and survey the day’s top stories. Then address the following questions:
    • What element(s) of newsworthiness do the stories meet (impact, immediacy, proximity, prominence, novelty, conflict, emotions)? Is there an equal mix of broccoli and chocolate, or does the site seem to “favor” one over the other?
    • What kind of stories are you most likely to click on? Why or why not?
    • What is clickbait? Is it a good or bad thing? Why?
  2. After posting your own reflection, you must also comment on at least two people  from other students in your Discussion group
