Discuss the definition of sense of meaningfulness as it applies to the work force. You will provide examples of when you have had a high sense of meaningfulness and a low sense of meaningfulness while at work and how this influenced your motivation level. You will then use the chart on page 87 of the textbook to discuss where you fall along the continuum of your own sense of meaningfulness at your current (or last place) of work.

  1. Discuss the definition of sense of choice as it applies to the work force. You will provide examples of when you have had a high sense of choice and a low sense of choice while at work and how this influenced your motivation level. You will then use the chart on page 89 of the textbook to discuss where you fall along the continuum of your own sense of choice at your current (or last place) of work.
  2. Discuss the definition of sense of competence as it applies to the work force. You will provide examples of when you have had a high sense of competence and a low sense of competence while at work and how this influenced your motivation level. You will then use the chart on page 91 of the textbook to discuss where you fall along the continuum of your own sense of competence at your current (or last place) of work.
  3. Discuss the definition of sense of progress as it applies to the work force. You will provide examples of when you have had a high sense of progress and a low sense of progress while at work and how this influenced your motivation level. You will then use the chart on page 92 of the textbook to discuss where you fall along the continuum of your own sense of progress at your current (or last place) of work.
  4. You will discuss the patterns you observed as you charted your intrinsic rewards. You will also discuss if there are any differences in the ratings of the four intrinsic rewards. Lastly, you will discuss if the pattern ratings suggest one or more of the intrinsic rewards is a problem. If so, you will discuss how this can be altered for more motivation at work. If not, you will discuss how you will keep your intrinsic rewards “in check.”
  5. After taking the assessment and reflecting on your results, apply at least two theories of motivation to improve your motivation as well as overall organizational performance. Make sure to provide specific examples of how these theories can enhance motivation.
