Part 1. Identify and introduce a research topic

With your working group, identify a research topic you’re personally interested in exploring. Introduce the topic and describe why you think it is important to investigate further. In other words, answer the questions of “why” and “so what.” (100 – 200 words + at least 1 citation)

Part 2. Review the literature and apply theory Organization

Provide a brief argument that justifies the investigation into your topic, based on 3-5 peer-reviewed research articles. This argument should be framed to inform and guide your research questions and hypotheses. This should include explaining to your reader what is – and is not – already known and summarize any debates around your topic. (300 – 500 words + citations)

Part 3.

Develop 2 – 3 research questions and/or hypotheses. You must pose at least one formal, directional hypothesis. They should make sense in the context of the research already presented.

Altogether these three parts will entail:

-An introduction: problem formulation – what topic or area is being examined?

-A body: Analyze and interpret the existing literature, to draw out and synthesize the relevant findings/conclusions of your selected works

-A summary: From the literature review, a series of Research Questions and/or Hypotheses should be developed and presented.

-A reference list: at the end of the review

– Use headings to introduce sections and sub-sections.
