With this in mind, download and view the attached powerpoint powerpoint – Alternative Formats “What is a Primary Source.” It provides an even deeper insight into primary sources and how to interpret them, building on the short film you watched Week 1.
Then, you can dive in and read primary sources about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. Cornell University has developed a rich, multifaceted website that contains primary and secondary sources about one of the greatest tragedies in labor history. When you visit the site, first spend some time browsing the contents. Click on “The Story of the Fire” so that you have an overview of the historical context. Then, read at least these three primary sources, that are attached below, from the investigation of the fire.
Afterwards, you will need to pick one to write about in the “Evaluating Primary Sources Worksheet” (attached to the assignment above).
